APPOINTMENTS & PRICING

What is the cost of a session?

We offer Full Hour appointments for 130$ and Half Hour appointments for 70$.

Consultations will be 1-2 hours in-person appointments with roughly 20-30 minutes of test treatment to understand your skin and charged at just an hour rate.

What does scheduling look like?

A Consultation is required for each client, where paperwork is filled out and informed consent is explained. Here, clients will also be given education on Electrology, their skin, and how the treatment course is done. Finally, clients will be given time for treatment, where a shorter appointment will be taken to adjust settings to find the best fit for each client's tolerance and hair type. This smaller course of treatment also allows clients to feel how Blend Electrolysis works and for the Electrologist to see how the client's skin reacts.

To ensure clients are seen regularly and those with the most immediate needs receive adequate treatment, we primarily take on clients who commit to a recurring weekly or every other week schedule at a consistent day and time. Scheduling is broken down accordingly to assign a designated appointment slot to a client so that it is theirs for the duration of the treatment course (weekly/biweekly). This ensures that clients who need work like surgery preparation can plan to meet a needed timeline. We contact clients from the list of new clients regularly when a corresponding slot becomes available that we are able to assign to them.

If a client cannot commit to a specific timeslot based on their availability, then they can opt to be placed on the Fill-In list, where they will be contacted when an existing client has to miss their assigned time due to extenuating circumstances.

As ZAP! takes great lengths to educate and get to know each client's healthcare and Gender-Affirmation needs, our onboarding process is thorough and more in-depth than other Electrology providers. Please be aware that when we make a commitment to our clients and their care that we require the same commitment from the client.

ELECTROLYSIS

What is electrolysis?

Electrology is the only method of permanent hair removal approved by the FDA, utilizing three primary techniques. Each technique involves inserting a small, rounded-tip metal probe into the hair follicle and applying a slight electric current to demolish the follicle’s ability to create hair.

At ZAP, we primarily use galvanic electrolysis and the blend method. For clients who are sensitive to direct current, we may use manual thermolysis. Due to its efficiency and reliable results, we prefer to recommend the blend method for surgical preparation.

Please read our section on Electrology Education for more in-depth information, diagrams, and the science behind how it all works!

What makes ZAP! different?

Our Speciality is in blend methodology, a customizable and adaptable mode of electrology that blends speed, comfort, and customizability for a truly tailored treatment.

ZAP! takes its education and practice of Gender-Affirming care for all Cis and Trans individuals very seriously and will always help guide you to the best and most efficient options for treatment. We are not here to sell you on services or unnecessary work, only to educate you about your body, Electrology, and to assist you in reaching your goals as soon as humanly possible.

What does it feel like?

Sensations vary on a person-by-person basis. Sensitivity varies based on body part, and some people experience more discomfort than others.

We will always prioritize personalizing the settings in your treatments to ensure we are able to work quickly and effectively, keeping it as comfortable for you as possible.

Why electrolysis over laser?

Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method of permanent hair removal.

Please read our section on Electrolysis Removal VS. Laser Reduction for more in-depth information, diagrams, and the science behind how it all works!

Laser treatment may reduce hair but may not result in permanent removal, and typically is most effective for people with light skin and dark hair. There are also additional considerations that come with laser treatment, such as the risk for Paradoxical Hypertrichosis (damage to surrounding hair follicles elicits a bodily response resulting in non-visible hairs growing back deeply and darkly). Electrolysis treatment does not have such restrictions.

When compared to electrolysis, laser treatment can appear as a quicker option. This is because Laser is not permanent, requiring consistent maintenance and treatment. Electrolysis does take longer to treat an area; however, the results are truly permanent due to proper treatment of individual hair follicles. No further hair will grow from treated follicles. This is also why electrolysis is the only real recommendation for those seeking surgery prep work.

How long will this proccess take?

The length of treatment varies from person to person. How long the process will take is something we evaluate and discuss in person. Larger areas take longer to accomplish. In your initial consultation, we take time to discuss your goals and map out your treatment plan. Please note, we will never be able to definitively give an exact timeline to complete your treatments.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Can I use medicine?

You can discuss pain management options such as over-the-counter ibuprofen (Advil), acetaminophen (Tylenol), and topical lidocaine (usually 5%) products with your doctor. Your doctor may also give you the option of higher dosages than are listed for non-prescription use. Your doctor may prescribe you pain medications or anti-anxiety medications which may help you feel more comfortable.
